RACE RESULT: ROUND 13 – RATHDOWNEY The sun shone in Rathdowney once again and it shone best for Naas CC, as for the third successive year, the club took the top prize at this fixture, this time courtesy of young improving A3 rider SEAN O’CALLAHAN. He got the better of the other league contenders LUKAS FURMAN, LIAM BROWNE and FERGHAL REGAN in a close finish up the 1km drag to the line after 9 laps of the Manor Stone Circuit. Naas team mate Joe Kelly repeatedly attacked in the final 20km, forcing a chase behind each time; the local Ossory CC men had a few goes off the front too; but O’Callaghan timed his finish well, having earlier taken the prime on lap two to cap off a wonderful night. Paddy Hynds (CRCC) and Shane McKeon (NCC) took the other primes, while there was a great race between the 5 women riders on the night, all of whom acquitted themselves well. Emily-Anne Doyle (Naas) just held off Angela Hoare of the host club in the finish, with Susan Wall, Agnieska Kurzdylo and Deirdre Walsh completing the places. Cael Chanders (NCC) Eoin Curley (KCC) and Luke Hyland (KCC) took the underage race victories.
