RACIAL PROFILING: The use of an individuals race or ethnicity by law personal as a key factor in deciding whether to engage in enforcement... stop, search or arrest. Recently there have been many situations coming to the forefront, and I say coming to the forefront of police shootings, because this is nothing new to many! New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles there have protest in large numbers in the shootings of unarmed men and young boys of color in our country. July 17, 2014, Eric Garner 43, comforted by police for suspicion of selling loosies single cigarettes from packs without tax stamps. A New York police office Daniel Pantaleo put his arms around Eric Garner neck in a choke hold, on December 3 a grand jury decided not to induct the police officer. August 9, 2014, Michael Brown, an unarmed 18 year old teenager was shot and kill by Ferguson, Mo. Police Officer, Darren Wilson. The Grand Jury decided not to indict Officer Wilson. November 22 2014, Tamir Rice, a 12 year young boy with a with an air gun was shot and kill by a Cleveland Ohio Police Officer, Timothy Loehmann. Hes on administrative leave....with pay! The existence of racial profiling dates as far back as to slavery. In 1693, Philadelphias court officials gave police legal authority to stop and detain any Negro (a label given to people of color at the time) freed or slaved seen wandering around the streets. This discrimination practice continued through the Jim Crow era, and now the 21st Century, racial profiling is prevalent across the country! Lets be be clear and real, not only Blacks, African Americans are being or have been victims of racial profiling ... thats a fact. Hispanics, Arabs, Muslims, Asians any many other ethnics groups have experience some of the same or similar situations. The protest (many peaceful, others not so peaceful) that we are witnessing across our country...a lot people feel are needed to bring ...change! We must also teach our how young people on what and how to respond when approached or confronted by the police to hopefully secure their safety. As usual, we at The Juice Cares! We ask that you talk to your friends, family, relatives and co-workers with dialogue. Your comments are always welcome. After all we are The People Station!
