RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter was tasked to participate in a search - TopicsExpress

RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter was tasked to participate in a search late at night on Saturday 19 July for a missing dory which had been separated from its mothership near Warland Reef. At 7:50pm the helicopter and crew (equipped with night vision goggles) departed but 5 minutes before reaching the prescribed search area, information was received that the boat was no longer missing. The people on board had returned to safety after deploying flares and attracting the attention of the mothership. RACQ CQ Rescue turned around and headed for home, arriving back at 9pm. Its serves as a reminder for all people who are initially reported as being in danger to remain in contact with authorities to ensure community resources are being put to their best use.
