RAF Supports Sinjar Success RAF Tornados from 903 EAW, based in RAF Akrotiri, have joined Coalition partners in air strikes supporting a huge Peshmerga counter-offensive against Da’esh forces last week. Following a major push by over 8000 Kurdish troops, the long-running Da’esh siege of Mount Sinjar, where thousands of Yazidis and other displaced Iraqis have been trapped since August, has finally been broken. The GR4s have continued to keep up the pressure on Da’esh, destroying numerous armed vehicles and command centres, and now supply convoys are now able to get through to the civilians still on Mount Sinjar.
