RAIGRAM BK HIGH SCHOOL was in the village Raigram on the bank of river TRIPTI near PS Kaliganj, Dist : Jessore. My lodging Master mainly earned his living from agriculture for wihc he had some landed property, a house and a nice Am (mango) bagan with a number of coconut tree, a Lichi tree, few betal-nut tree and of course a number of mango tree with variety tests. The garden was on the bank of Tripti river. In those days we did never think of having electricity in the house. So in the evening we three sat around a Hurricane lantern on a mat and did our studies to the extent possible. There was no watch/clock in the house. We selected shadow of a bamboo pole coming to a particular place in the morning when I should go to the river for bathing to reach school in time after taking breakfast/meal. I did not take any tiffin in the school and after coming back from school, used to take meal at the afternoon. While going for bath in the morning I used to take the cattle to the field for grazing, tied their neck with rope and on the other end fitted to a bamboo stick inserted deep into the field. Similarly after returning back from school and taking meal I had to go to the field to bring back the cattle(5/6 nos.) and keep them in the GOAL and give them fodder. On holidays, when there was no school, I used to take my books and a mat and sat under the AM BAGAN on the river bank to do my home work. I t was a fine place covered with grass like carpet. During my stay there I could see the girls coming to the ghat on the other side of river to wash their utensils. The cow-boys used to come there to graze their cows. I used to have many discussion with them to know their whereabouts. Some times I wondered when they used to call a particular cow by name, say KALI, OR DHALI and strangely enough the particular cow used come to the cow boy quickly. It means that the particular cow knew their name and responded to the call.
