RAILA ODINGA WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT It’s a known fact that Raila odinga is Kenya’s most popular politician. He is the enigma of politics in Kenya and all political activities in the country revolve around him. He is good at raising political temperatures in the country every year. He is a master of pulling crowds and he always has a fully packed rallies. This sends political shivers to his opponents. He has topped opinion polls since the infamous referendum of the year 2005. With all this popularity Raila will never be president. First thing which locks out Raila from being president is age. When Raila and Kalonzo were in government, President Uhuru and his Deputy were still in high school. This clearly shows that age is catching up with him very fast. Raila is now 70 years old. Uhuru and Ruto are still young and energetic. In 2017 the age factor will play a very great role and Raila will be beaten hands down by the duo since Kenyans are not ready to elect an old person to lead the country. We need young and visual leaders like Uhuru and Ruto. In 2017 Raila will be politically irrelevant. Yes he is our baba we love him but let’s face it; His best chance of clinging the presidency was in the previous elections. In 2017 the election will be a work over for the jubilee government. Raila call for a referendum is not to “okoa Kenya” as the cord coalition puts it but it’s for Raila to become politically relevant. The famous political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi once said Raila is like a car on a slow puncture and I totally agree with him. Raila is slowly fading away and by 2017 he will be politically irrelevant. His best chance of remaining relevant and avoid facing a humiliating defeat in 2017 is by handing the leadership mantle to a younger and energetic leader like Dr Evans Kidero. Tyranny of numbers will also play a huge role in the 2017 election. Unless Musalia Mudavadi supports Raila he will be beaten again by 50 +1 votes again. If all the luhya community supported Raila in the last election he would be in state house now. Musalia will be in the ballot box in 2017 so it will be 2013 all over again and Mr Raila will be beaten again. Raila only chance of being president is through the referendum which he is pushing for. If this referendum passes the presidential election will be through the parliamentary system which Kenyans will have no chance of voting for their favourite presidential candidate but the person who has majority members in parliament will be president automatically. Mr Raila should not run for president in 2017. We know it will be a do or die for him but it’s obvious he will be beaten hands down by the duo of Uhuru. What I can advise Mr Raila to do is groom a younger person to take over from him. Mr Kalonzo could have been a better alternative but his watermelon image won’t be good for him. Kenyans don’t trust him. If you can’t make up your mind you have no business running for president.
