Monday October 13th, 2014 - The Prestigious Yale University in Connecticut, US, will soon open a constituent college in Nairobi thanks to former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga. According to the University’s website, the institution which prides itself in many notable alumni, including five U.S. Presidents, 19 U.S. Supreme Court Justices, 13 living billionaires, 52 Nobel laureates and many foreign Heads of State, will open one of its colleges in Nairobi. The college, which will be the first of its kind in Africa, will offer education to more than 10,000 students from Africa. The university made the announcement a day after former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, urged the faculty to broaden its horizons to Kenya and indeed Africa. Raila said by opening a constituent college in Africa, Kenya will benefit greatly especially in terms of research, medicine and democracy. Raila, who is the official leader of the Opposition in Kenya, said it is his belief that Kenyan youth can join the ranks of high achievers given the chance at quality higher education. Supermodel and actress, Lupita Nyongo, and late Nobel Laureate Prof Wangari Maathai are among alumni of Yale University.
