RAIN FROM HEAVEN FALLING IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT The rain - TopicsExpress

RAIN FROM HEAVEN FALLING IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT The rain presently falling all over the earth at this time is not like that rain. But it is nonetheless said to be rain because it also comes from God and it also is a pouring out of the Word of God: Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noahs life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. In the flood account we see that the rain is still in the form of water. But this water destroys all men outside of the ark (Christ) in the time of judgment. Genesis 8:2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; The rain fell from the windows of heaven. Sent forth directly from God to the rebellious people of the world. But the Bible doesnt only refer to water as the only type of rain. For instance: Genesis 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; Notice in this verse that God is describing the fire and brimstone He sent to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah as a form of rain. The LORD rained upon Sodom... The Hebrew word translated as rained (#4305) is a typical word for rain in the Hebrew language. We understand the use of regular rain to typify the Word of God falling from heaven. Water is often used to symbolize the gospel. But why would God speak of raining down fire and brimstone from heaven? It is an unusual way of putting it. The answer to this question is found in the book of Isaiah, in chapter 30: RAINING FIRE AND BRIMSTONE Isaiah 30:33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it. We see in the above verse that Gods breath is likened to a stream of brimstone. And the breath of God can only be speaking of the Word of God. Remember, that 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us, that All Scripture is given by inspiration of God... And when we look at the Greek word translated as inspiration, we find it is a compound word which literally means: God breathed. All Scripture is God breathed. Well, according to Isaiah the prophet, the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it. That is, the Word of God is like a stream of brimstone. Just as God likens His Word to the rain (Isaiah 55:10,11) that falls from heaven. He has also likened His Word to brimstone. Brimstone also is said to fall from heaven as the rain. See: Psalm 11:6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. Ezekiel 38:22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Yes, rain is falling all over the world upon the inhabitants of the earth. But it is no longer the beneficial rain that brought wonderful showers of blessing. No. But now, it is the rain of fire and brimstone. A rain that is the outpouring of an angry God. A rain designed to express Gods fury with the unsaved people. A rain that will only destroy.
