RAIN ON SPEEDWAY DAY HOW TO DEAL WITH IT Step 1) - Turn on your Facebook Step 2) - Open up venue page Step 3) - Wait They will tell you if they have cancelled the event. WHY? Venues and their VOLUNTEERS are really busy getting everything ready for you, they do not have time to pick up the phone when they should be getting the venue sorted. They do not have time to respond to 100 text messages (Disclaimer: they may if your a mate) They dont have time to respond to every message on Facebook and often somebody misinformed or un-official will and confuse you with information not quite right. If social media doesnt tell you its cancelled yet, a decision isnt going to made just because you have time to hassle a club. You will know when they tell everybody. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Do whatever you would do if there wasnt a cloud in the sky and keep on heading to the track, if it rains out or is cancelled thats just bad luck & something we come to expect with our sport. TRUST THEM Trust the club to consider all options In regards to whats going to happen at their venue - if they are sure their meeting is screwed they will make the call. Some clubs are getting very good at calling early and being right about bad weather. WE ALL WANT TO RACE - SO LETS HEAD TO THE TRACK Locals know their venues. Many of us have headed to a track where if rains all the way to 10ks from the track where it is BONE DRY and we are going racing! Sometimes we have driven hours to get to a place and as soon as we arrive it buckets down. Until all our speedways are all indoors under giant canopies - we know the risk so plan ahead if your going to a venue away from home, make sure you have a PLAN B for what your going to do in that town with your friends and/or family if there is no speedway. EG: if it rains in Wangaratta I go to this blokes house If it rains in Hamilton I go see this family member If it rains in Warrnambool I go gave a Parma at the Flying Horse If it rains in Rosedale I go back to the Tavern for a feed If it rains at Avalon I go to the City to catch a movie Etc Be mindful of the Volunteers tomorrow folks, they will tell you - when they know.
