RAMANA MAHARSHIS IS BUT ONE OF MANY WAYS BORN OF MOTHER - TopicsExpress

RAMANA MAHARSHIS IS BUT ONE OF MANY WAYS BORN OF MOTHER INDIA Essentially, when it comes to understanding of the path – whatever that path may be – most of those seekers who are trying to implement the teaching of sages like Ramana Maharshi, are simply deluded by the way these teaching have been presented almost from the moment these teachings have entered the collective subconscious. To start with, Ramana Maharshi belonged to the path of classical Advaita Vedanta which negates the entire Creation as being unreal. Hence the practice of neti-neti (not this, not this) is the path of gradual rejection. The aspirant is advised to reject everything related to physical or subtle manifestation, right from the onset of his/her sadhana. Obviously every pandit of vedanta (let alone gyani) knows about the concept of Antakarana (the body made of eight, which includes the five senses and body, mind, ego), not only from the scriptures, but from direct, visceral, first hand experience. Furthermore, Atman is dressed in five sheaths, and the individual I functions through these five sheaths, through all its interactions and levels of consciousness. The idea behind this practice [of negation] is that if one rejects all thoughts, feelings and sensations, as not being the I, the real I will eventually shine in a form that is unlimited to the sheaths. Now, this – and Ramana Maharshi was quite adamant about it – could take years, decades, a lifetime, to master. How can a modern man/woman, who lives as a householder function properly in life if all this life is meant to be viewed as non-existent to start with? These are the most important considerations of how a seeker of truth chooses a platform on which to build his/her process of self-realization. This path [of a renunciate] is totally unsuitable for a modern man who lives in the world, acts and interacts in this world, raises children and enjoys intimate relationships. This path is totally unsuitable, even detrimental, for a woman because how on earth can she enjoy motherhood, if what she carrying beneath her heart is an illusion of life rather than life itself. This condition is like a disease, born of poor spiritual education, which spreads and plucks our age with half-baked philosophies and half-baked teachers. But above all else with lost [to that process] souls. On the other hand the same culture which gave us Ramana Maharshi has various other traditions, approaches and methodologies that are not only more compatible with a life of a householder, but stand to the necessity of our time and age. Which needs attentive, caring, loving and deeply empathic attitude towards what we call life, perhaps more than ever in the whole history of humanity. Towards what we call existence and towards that what we walk on and often take for granted – The Mother Earth – which has her own Light Body. The subtle field which is being affected by the way we feel, think, sense and the way we interact with all life, by strengthening its vibrations or by thinning it out. Again, that is why before delivering anything of value during our last stay in California, I spoke of historical perspective on two radically different approaches towards the same goal. I hope this adds to the exchanges in a positive way. – Igor Kufayev – Lake Arenal, Costa Rica. March 2014
