RAMPAUL FIT AGAIN SAYS KHAN Pacer Ravi Rampaul is fit again after a slight groin injury that kept him out of the last three warm-up games the Red Force played against Guyana and the Windward Islands respectively. Manager of the team Omar Khan said Rampaul has been working hard to regain fitness and is ready for action again. He said: “Ravi had a slight groin strain but is fit again and will play in two practice matches that we are having this week in Trinidad. We did not see the wisdom in playing him on the weekend, as he was allowed more time to recover. He is ready to go now and will be in action on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.” Over the weekend, the Red Force defeated the Windwards in back to back matches in Dominica and will have another two warm-up matches this week at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain, Couva before they fly off for India next Monday. Khan said he was pleased with the preparations thus far: “The preparation so far has been good. The players are gelling together as a unit, supporting and believing in each other and this is great. On Sunday in Dominica we held a team building exercise at the Sulphur Falls and it went very well. “The boys have been doing a lot of team building work and this is expected to work in our favour in India. One of the strengths of this team is their never say die attitude and team building helps with this.” Khan said going into the Champions League, it is very important to have the presence of Rampaul and Sunil Narine. These guys have played extensively in India and have been successful. It is good to have both of them with us this time around and they are expected to impart some knowledge of the conditions unto the other members of the team.” Today, the team will attend the official launch of their campaign at the Queen’s Park Oval at 1 pm, where a major announcement is expected to come from the Ministry of Tourism. Tomorrow and Thursday, they play practice matches and then take Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, before leaving on Monday for India. The Red Force has only one practice match in India before the tournament starts, on September 21 in Ranchi. The next day they open their campaign against the Brisbane Heat at the same venue.
