RANKING OF SCHOOLS: ON 4th and 5th December 2014, together with the local Team Uhuru members we visited a school in Kilifi - Gabriel Kahindi Memorial Primary School. The situation in the school as the photos below show is unacceptable, but it works for the local community. Class 4 and 5s learn in the same class, class 1-3 have adopted a tree where they take their classes class 6 and 7 rotate classes, some come in the morning and others in the afternoon. They only have 3 TSC teachers. To summarize, such a school, in my opinion, can surely not be ranked with the more endowed ones. Standardization of resources and staff should be the ultimate aim of society before we can engage in ranking. For the students in the photos below, TU Patron Jomo Gecaga, ourselves and the locals who are members of Team Uhuru have contributed and will soon ensure that each of the students has a desk and enough books to read - as our response to a Facebook request sent by a resident. For the many other schools like the one below, Government action will be needed, but even more importantly as members of the Society and Community called Kenya we must join hands and do what we can. My take
