RANT AHEAD: For all you softies who cant seem to cope when I get irritated about something and am not posting sunrises and shit, look away... --- Freerotation was great, more on that in a bit. But I am officially done with Hertz Rent-a-Car Corporation. I returned the car we drove this afternoon and apparently between the time I rented the car and the time I returned it, something or someone knocked off the mirror turn signal light cover. After the guy processed me out (after doing a full walkaround), as Im stepping out of the car, he points to the mirror. I didnt do it; I didnt hit anyone while driving or parking, and as far as I know, no one scraped me. But I buy collision damage waiver specifically for this sort of thing when I rent cars. Hertz has collected thousands of dollars from me for the peace of mind of walking away from the vehicle for any dings, scratches, dents or whatever, whether or not its my fault. Well, apparently, collision damage waiver means something different in the UK than it does in any other part of the world. He tried to tell me I owed him £110 for the part. I said I paid for collision damage waiver, I dont understand what youre talking about. He tried to tell me that I only paid for basic insurance. I looked at him like he lost his ever-loving mind. I said again I dont understand what youre talking about. He kept pointing and circling stuff on the contract. I said the terms say collision damage WAIVER...that means that damage is supposed to be WAIVED. And if it isnt, then you sold me a bill of goods and I will pursue all legal avenues available to me for FRAUD. He continued to cajole me into signing the damage report, I refused and said if you charge me, I will dispute it. He started raising his voice. I asked for a supervisor. He said he was the supervisor. He then went down his standard script that I only bought basic insurance and that this isnt covered. I said I bought insurance that, when presented to me by the website, said it covered the car. If it didnt cover the car, then theres no reason for me to buy it. What else is there to do here? Because Im not signing ANYTHING. He finally shoved the contract and receipt in my face and told me to go. BTW, yes, I know about the fine print. The Hertz fine print says that a collision damage waiver covers the cost of any damages done to the car while it is in my possession. I didnt sign. I didnt curse, and I didnt raise my voice. I stood my ground and prevailed over some BULLSHIT.
