RANT OF THE DAY Gracie Magazine posted a video between Paulo Miyao and Keenan Cornelius. Although these two guys are unbelievable at jiu-jitsu, this match reflects everything that is wrong with IBJJF scoring. A jiu-jitsu match is not about two guys sitting down on the ground and playing footsies. A jiu-jitsu match is meant to resemble a fight without the striking. Its about the takedown, control, position, and submission. Fighters should not be allowed to sit down and roll around. If you cant get the takedown, you should be fighting at at disadvantage. -3 points for you! If I were a new student and this is the sport I saw, I wouldve joined the local TKD school instead. I want the BJJ of Carlson, Renzo, and Ralph. I can guarantee no at our gym will pull guard! How can we fix this? Lets hear your ideas.
