RANT WARNING: I love it how all these organizers leaders of different orgs are very inclusive and accepting of various identities, but when it comes to being intentional of actually doing work within perhaps the LGBTQ community they fall short. I believe the one thing they forget is that to acknowledge the existence of all of these identities isnt enough; know that we live in a heteronormative society and as much as LGBTQ folks have different experiences growing up than those others, we all grow up learning everything about the hetero-normal way of life. There is simply no escape and acknowledging our existence isnt ever going to cut it, specially not when you have had queer folks do a lot of the work that benefits your org, know that it is a necessity to be intentional, it is a requirement if you want to achieve the work that you are doing simply because when you leave anyone behind, you are becoming the oppressor. Thank you! now just learn to be fierce! P.S. this is trowing glitter not hate. Also it is never about people not being ready ... No one is ever ready for change, you learn by being Intentional.
