RAVEN girl if you dont like labels you wouldnt want the American label, the Woman label, the actress label, nor any label youre studying in college to have associated with you. STOP it. I totally get how lots of blacks think its not right that were called African Americans and everybody else is just American. BUT the fact that blacks accept and identify ONLY with the AMERICAN part of them in my opinion saddens me. Every person in America comes from somewhere regardless of how many generations theyve been American. A white will tell you theyre Irish, British, Italian etc and wasnt born there. A Mexican, Indian, Dominican, etc will all tell you of their heritage, culture, and roots as well. It doesnt matter if they were born here. Blacks seem to think theyre just American nothing else, thats impossible. Blacks are so lost in America they only identify with America. America who brought you here and brutalized your entire race for hundreds of years and still do lowkey. But HATE to be associated with the beautiful african country and people. Your true home. The culture, music, history, spirituality etc is nothing to be ashamed of. YOU are african, AFRICA is not a country its a continent, you have to be a fool to think youre just American.
