!!!RB TALK!!! In his Week 10 NFL debut, Charles Sims played 34% of the snaps, totaling 40 yards on ten touches and losing a fumble. Bobby Rainey played 59%, but averaged 2.3 YPC on six carries. He did catch four balls for 42 yards. Mike James also mixed in, rushing four times for 16 yards. Sims stashers have to hope the coaching staff gives him a pass for last weeks loose ball and continues to up his usage. The Bucs face Chicago and Cincinnatis leaky run defenses in their next two games. The Vikings backfield had fallen into an even two-way timeshare before the clubs Week 10 bye, with Matt Asiata playing 38 snaps against the Redskins in Week 9 and handling 14 touches. Jerick McKinnon played 37 downs and saw 17 touches. Asiatas fantasy usefulness is tied entirely to goal-line scores, so thats what youre betting on if you flex him. If he doesnt score, he will hurt you. McKinnon gets pulled in short-yardage and third-down situations, but is both the safest and highest-upside bet in the Vikings tailback corps because his role is more consistent and hes capable of racking up a lot of yardage. Terrance West has emerged as Shanahans lead back the past two weeks, handling 73 snaps and 42 touches. Ben Tate has played 55 downs, handling the rock 26 times. Despite Wests solid recent performance, Pettine has maintained publicly that the Browns will continue to employ a hot-hand backfield, which is sure to cause fantasy frustration. Isaiah Crowell mixed in for 16 plays in last weeks stomping of Cincinnati, parlaying 12 carries into 41 yards and a touchdown, Unfortunately, Crowell continued to be careless with the football and was benched after fumbling, even though the loose ball was overturned on replay. Crowell was a month removed from a two-fumble game, after which Pettine and Shanahan had all but eliminated him from the rushing offense. Crowell is a talented RB4 stash, but nothing more due the lack of clarity with his workload Ive noticed an anti-C.J. Anderson sentiment in the fantasy football community and I dont really get it. Hes a 225-pound contact-beating power runner with respectable 4.53 speed, plus receiving skills, and a career 5.68 YPC average. Per Pro Football Focus, Andersons average of 2.7 yards after contact per rushing attempt is superior to Montee Ball (2.2), Juwan Thompson (2.1), and Ronnie Hillman (1.7). With Hillman (foot) sidelined 2-3 weeks and Ball (groin) likely to be eased back in, expect Anderson to maintain the hot hand in Denvers backfield. If Anderson pass protects adequately and capitalizes on his anticipated opportunity, it would not surprise me if he maintained Denvers lead back job for the rest of this year. Anderson is physically built to carry the load Rashad Jennings will return from his five-week MCL sprain to face a San Francisco defense that ranks No. 13 against the run per Football Outsiders DVOA and yields 4.08 yards per carry to enemy running backs. Minus Willis and fellow ILB Navorro Bowman, the 49ers have a good-not-great run defense that Mark Ingram and Travaris Cadet combined to bounce for 129 yards on 29 carries (4.45 YPC) last week. Jennings is not expected to handle a full workload in his return, although that could change if he starts fast. He’s worth firing up immediately as an RB2 with stretch-run RB1 potential in PPR leagues. Prior to his Week 5 knee injury, Jennings was averaging 20.4 touches per game. Expect Andre Williams to resume a change-of-pace and short-yardage role the rest of the way. With Mathews back, look for Oliver to morph from every-down back to passing-down specialist and change-up option. Usage similar to Danny Woodheads before he fractured his fibula is likely. Woodhead averaged 34 snaps per game in the first two weeks, handling seven touches in Week 1 and a dozen in Week 2. Oliver will be a PPR flex play against the Raiders Locked in as the Lions lead back, Bell totaled 81 yards on 12 touches against the Dolphins and handled 67% of the running back snaps. In addition to Arizonas top-three run defense, working against Bells fantasy outlook is a multi-week knee injury to Lions RG Larry Warford, a 332-pound mauler. Bell would appear to be a low-ceiling RB2/flex option against the Cardinals. Hell probably require a goal-line score to pay fantasy dividends. ... Riddick only played eight snaps against the Dolphins, but could flirt with 30 against the Cardinals if Bush (ankle) is out for this game. Coach Jim Caldwell publicly hinted this week that Bush might need to take a game off. When Bush missed Weeks 6 and 8, Riddick handled touch totals of 8 and 11. Riddick would become a lower-end PPR flex option. Source: Rotoworld
