RBS should have been upfront about systems neglect For Immediate Release Sinn Féin Economy Spokesperson Daithí McKay has said that consideration should be given to the decoupling of Ulster bank IT systems from Royal bank of Scotland after an RBS chief admitted that the group had neglected its technology for decades. He said “When IT systems were centralised within RBS a short number of years ago it was not long before problems started to occur with devastating effects for customers and the image of Ulster Bank. “There is some merit in the consideration of again separating out the IT systems if RBS cannot get to grips with its own system. “Either way Ulster Bank simply cannot afford to have any more damage done to its reputation. “The admission from RBS that they have neglected its IT technology for decades is to be welcome but they should have been upfront about this long before now.”
