RCCG pastor and close confidant of Adeboye indicates church will back Buhari and APC THE REDEEMED Christian Church Of God (RCCG) clergyman Pastor JT Kalejaiye who is a close associate to Pastor Enoch Adeboye its general overseer has indicated that the church will support General Muhammadu Buhari come Februarys presidential elections. Since last month when General Buhari picked Professor Yemi Osibanjo, an RCCG pastor as his running mate, speculation has been rife about whether the church will back his candidacy. Although Professor Osibanjo is a former attorney-general of Lagos State, he is also known to be close to the RCCG general overseer, who it is believed General Buhari consulted before making his choice. However, one of the churchs leading clergymen, Pastor Kalejaiye, gave the closest hint that it would back the Buhari/Osibanjo partnership come next months elections. In an explosive sermon, Pastor Kalejaiye, a regional RCCG evangelist, appeared to be canvassing support for the All Progressives Congress ticket come February 2015. Touted to be among the favourites to one day take over from Pastor Adeboye as the RCCG leader, Pastor Kalejaiye in his sermon predicted that there would be a pleasant surprise in 2015 elections. Telling congregants to go and mark it, he sounded angry with the way Nigeria is currently going. Pastor Kalejaiye said: “Of what use is my brother, my blood brother who is not going to move the nation forward? And you want me to vote for him because he is my brother? Don’t let us deceive ourselves.” “What are we saying? let’s call a spade a spade, brethren. Things cannot continue this way. Corruption is the order of the day and you can steal and nothing will follow. Urging all Christians to wake up, Pastor Kalejaiye said that the faith of the leader should not have anything to do with governance. He added: When I was working somewhere, my boss was a Muslim. I enjoyed under him and he provoked me to study further, always being after my welfare. The soldier attached to me was with me for almost 15 years but I never knew he was a Muslim. The day he opened his mouth to say Sir, I am Muslim, I said What? but you follow me to the camp. You do this, you do that but he said that when it was time to pray he would pray. Pastor Kalejaiye added: “Brethren, wake up. That somebody goes to church doesn’t make him a Christian. That somebody bears Christian name doesn’t make him a Christian. You are a Christian yet there is no employment for our youths and people who should be feeding their parents are still being fed by their parents. How many youths can get married today without the support of their parents financially?
