RE: Don’t send Kwara state to early grave by Abdulazeez I. T. Afolabi In as much as Ajibola MIGHT not be the preferred candidate or not too popular a candidate among other PDP gubernatorial candidates as some believe, the truth of the matter is that the man won the primary election transparently without any behind the scene roles. I wasnt one of his admirers but the hard fact is that he transparently won the primary election of which other aspirants & apparently all the delegates never had any course to dispute. We must therefore embrace him and work assiduously to ensure his victory at the poll. As an individual who believe in fairness, equity and democracy, the best option is to accept the outcome of the election instead of wanting to rock the boat. The question now is how do we manage the situation without creating new problems? Fortunately, the outcome the primary election as a result of its transparency has fortified the unification of the partys key players without much acrimony. This is a very vital ingredient in re strategizing towards the forthcoming general elections. We really need this unity of purpose among the key players of which by the Providence has availed us. I think another step after the above is to re brand the standard bearer for his marketability to the electorates through the concerted efforts of all other aspirants & the heavy weights in the party. Had there been some acrimonies among the aspirants, this proposal will be difficult to attain. I also believe that a formidable deputy either among the aspirants or outside it that can make positive difference must be shopped for him with his in puts as well. Such deputy should emerge from Kwara Central Senatorial District, since the latter has never had any deputy governorship slot in the annal of the State, while the Speaker of the parliament should come from Kwara North Senatorial District. Such candidate must be very influential or should be enveloped by very influential party faithfuls from within the zone. Finally, I will want to submit that within this period, massive electoral enlightenment campaign must be embarked upon day in day out with some internal mechanism of vote canvassers that will move from house to house and from door to door canvassing for votes. One advantage at the disposal of PDP in the State is the general disconnection between the citizenry & the ruling party, the opposition party has to capitalize on this by embarking on massive campaign of ISSUES laced with enlightenment of the people. By so doing we can make the APPARENT unpalatable situation a palatable one, instead of crying over a spilled milk. I strongly believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel & it is not over until it is over.
