RE: Foliage Collage Collages can be time consuming and painstakingly tedious especially where foliage is concerned Right? Not always. If you use this technique to create Artistic Stylized Collage Graphics (not Photo Realism per se), creating a Foliage Collage will be a joy. With photo #1 as upper layer and photo #2 as bottom layer, create a Layer Mask on layer#1 Select your (soft) brush tool and paint away upper photo exposing the lower layer, expose (paint away) way more than necessary. Select White as Foreground and with a very soft brush start replacing the upper layer’s pixels. Do not think of this as a precise process you do not want to paint right up to the tree trunk leave some of the tree trunk’s foliage, the reason is that foliage of one layer blends quite well with the foliage of the other layer. If you try to be very precise it will probably look more like a cardboard cutout. Playing with the usual (Luminosity and Color tools) will help blend the whole Collage. Color Correcting and Color Grading (creating a mood/look) is my most recent study. All photos by my dear friend Brett Young.
