RE: President seeks $1bn loan to fight Boko Haram Writing about Nigerian issues is more of addiction which I am trying frantically to get myself off. I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel... infact, there is no tunnel talk less of light. In addition to that is a barrage of daily insult. I just need to stop this addition, may God help me! This is just a quick one. I think sometimes maybe we (tiers of government) do not understand the interdependency of issues or cause and effect or relational tendencies, correlation and relationship between governance, standard of living and the level of social vices plus terrorism. First, the defence military is as rotten as other ministries and institutions in Nigeria and the first logical thing to do is to ‘clean the system’ of mismanagement of defence budget, bogus contracts and investigate many scandals of recent. Second, you can’t defeat terrorism and other social vices only by military route, Oga Jonathan. I read yesterday (BBC) that a 10km active rail track was stolen in South Africa. It was too bad I decided not to share it not to encourage such in Nigeria. The options are clear; you either invest in policing and military or you invest in people. In Finland they decided to invest on people and the crime rate (by our definition) is almost zero. Even if there is an urgent financial need by the president to beef up security immediately, you will expect a reasonable administration to submit another request of soft/social side for permanent solution to the problem. How is the Federal in conjunction with states in that region solving the problem of unemployment for those that are employable and unemployable youths? How do they want to turn the lives of unemployable youth around? I guess not by/through prayers! What programme do they have/put in place to stop the trend of unemployable youths from cultural and social perspectives? These are what you will expect a serious government to do... as a long term solution. I am not sure if the Presidency knows what it’s doing... except rhetoric that terrorism will be soon defeated...HOW? We need to know how that can/will happen. Let me stop here ‘jare’ .. may God help Nigeria to overcome this clueless government and help me to overcome my addiction called Nigeria! Amin yah Robbi, amin yah Allah!
