RE: some posts stating WHY ARENT THE RESCUES TAGGING? I want to respond to some questions/comments posted by the public in the Roswell threads about not knowing why some rescues take some dogs and not others and Where are the rescues now? Why isnt this dog tagged? Personally, I foster for HeRD of WY (herdofwy.org), which specializes in the herding dog breeds. Some rescues specialize in other breeds, and some accept all breeds. Rescues depend upon foster homes to care for and provide basic training and evaluation of the dogs. Like most rescues, HeRD is ALWAYS in need of more foster homes. We cant request to tag a dog if our foster homes are full (or over-full as is often the case), and if we are not expecting an opening due to an adoption within the next week. This critical piece of the rescue puzzle is in addition to the local temporary Roswell foster & vetting, the transportation, and the pledges. Losing the Roswell dogs to euthanasia breaks our hearts, too. Fostering saves lives -- it buys the dog time for a Forever Home adoption! Please foster if you can!
