REACTION TO PALACE DEFEAT. CHRIS KINNEAR: We were caught in a perfect storm with their new manager coming in and they did not take liberties with us. They played a full premiership side and four weeks ago a team similar to that beat Liverpool. Their support was great and ours was magnificent with people even hanging out of the trees. We started really nervous and they went for us. But when a new manager comes in, players have something to prove, especially with it being the window now he can move one or two out and I am sure a few of them want to stay. I am disappointed that we did not play as well as we could do, but realistic that we have just faced a massive, massive club. The lads may have their heads down, but I have said to them that they have achieved a lot and Im sure a lot of their friends would have liked to have been playing here today. We have Havant in the Trophy next week, which will be a big game for them as we pipped them to the play offs last season. The pitch will be heavy with all the rain we have been having so it will be a difficult game. People have asked about if we can react to the defeat, but before and after the other FA cup games we have been able to keep the run going. We have come a long way in the two years that I have been here. So I cant be disappointed with the players and what they have achieved recently. People were saying we were going to get relegated this season, but we have reached the third round of the FA Cup and are four points off the play offs, so we just have to push on from here really. There are disappointments, but if there is only one in 17 games, then that is not bad going. JIM PARMENTER: It was a great occasion with a full stadium and it was nice to see the supporters cheering us on and hopefully some will be back for the league games. If I am being honest I am a little bit disappointed that we did not have a shot on goal, but Crystal Palace came with a new manager and had a point to prove. They picked the right side and applied themselves really well, so 4-0 was probably the right scoreline. The supporters were fantastic and appreciated the team. The fact that Crystal Palace supporters applauded our team off shows that we gave a good account of ourselves. It has been a great day, and it was great for us to have a TV game. The money will be invested in making us more competitive over the next couple of years. It is up to myself and the board to spend the money wisely. RICHARD ORLU: It was excellent to play in front of so many people against a team like that. It is just a shame that about the first two goals we conceded as they were set pieces - we wanted to stay in the game a little bit longer. You get moved constantly and it was really hard work. As a defender in Conference games, you get a period where you rest a little bit, but these players constantly work you and their movement is very good. Their fitness was something else and you can see why they are in the Premiership. You have to see what better players do and why they are that level, so that was good to see. I have never played against a Premiership team and hopefully I have learnt from it and maybe we can use that to do better in the league. ANDY RAFFERTY: I loved it and it was a great experience. The lads are disappointed in the dressing room and it is a shame we could not give a better account of ourselves. We huffed and puffed a little bit, but their movement off the ball was phenomenal and they are quality, which is why they are in the Premier League.. It can affect confidence, but only because we have become accustomed to the winning feeling. I think we be ok. NICK DEVERDICS: They came in, did a professional job and we conceded too early to give ourselves any hope of getting back into the game. To be fair it is a bad time to play them because Pardew has come in and the Palace players all wanted to show that they want to be in the team. We were unable to play it behind as they did not play a very high line. They also caused us a lot of problems and we had to try and find a different way around it, but we came up short. They rarely gave it away and you could see the extra quality. If they had started sloppily then we may have been able to get a foothold in the game, but they never really allowed us to do it. We had a little spell where we huffed and puffed but did not really do anything to hurt them and the second goal killed the game. If they slide it through you or open you up and score a great goal, then you say fair play. But we conceded a couple of headers and which is annoying from our point of view.
