****READ**** ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE --- My point by Lionel D Wilson and my mind is perplexed. This ice bucket challenge is for a good cause to help find a cure for ALS and I hope that they do real soon. But as a black people we must stop following the crowd and gain the knowledge before we start doing what everyone else is doing. ALS is a disease that affect 93% Caucasians and 7% of other race and ethnic groups. We as a people have to stop and think about, what can we do as a people to help raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for diseases that affect our people? I have a good friend Jazmin Carter who lost her battle with sickle cell anemia that affects most our people and Im sure you know someone who is or has been affected by this disease. Per CDC: •SCD affects 90,000 to 100,000 Americans. •SCD occurs among about 1 out of every 500 Black or African-American births. •SCD occurs among about 1 out of every 36,000 Hispanic-American births. •SCT occurs among about 1 in 12 Blacks or African Americans. I aint through, but get this. Ice water filled buckets was also a way that slave masters would punish their slaves #moderndayslavery and you are participating. Take this piece of poem by Robert Frost and live by it. I do and it has helped me tremendously.
