READERS’ VIEWS: Aug. 28, 2013 Resolution offers hope To the editor: In the name of Kentuckians all along the route of the proposed Bluegrass Pipeline, I write to commend Sen. Jimmy Higdon and the other eight Kentucky senators who co-sponsored a resolution expressing the desire of the Senate to protect our state from abuse of eminent domain and from unscrutinized siting of and absence of regulation for the misguided and frightening project called the Bluegrass Pipeline. In an age when government is widely scorned and often ineffective, the passage of this resolution Friday during the special session is a breath of fresh air and of hope for our people, our state and our world. May we Kentuckians continue to work together on essential bipartisan efforts such as this, demonstrating to our weary nation that the embers of democracy still burn and can become again a light for our world. Claire McGowan OP New Pioneers for a Sustainable Future Springfield Let landowners decide To the editor: I have been following the story of the Bluegrass Pipeline proposed to run through parts of Nelson County and other areas in Kentucky. It’s obvious to me that the residents directly affected by this are against it, more then not. Not to mention all of us who would ultimately be affected if a tragedy were to happen. My fear for these people and all of us is, if the government stands to make tax revenue off of this, these people are more then likely fighting a losing battle. This “eminent domain” bull crap that’s used against people for the government’s own greed might be the deciding factor. Let democracy reign over this decision. Hold a vote for the property owners affected by this. Let them have the last word. David Taylor Cox’s Creek
