READER’S DIGEST,SOME NOSTULGIC COMMENTS BY ABDULLAH AL-MAHMUD JAHANGIR” Public It is very much exciting and amazing for me to go through the contents of the historic “Reader’s Digest” so to say a knowledge hub, on “facebook”,I do recall with utmost pleasure and also on the contrary with sorrow my late, revered and beloved Father, Mr.AKM Mujibur Rahman,an accomplished gentleman in the truest sense and a noted Intellectual, Economist and a distinguished banker of erstwhile Pakistan’s ” National And Grindlays Bank “,(A British Bank) at Narayanganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and later on a renowned” Raw Jute Exporter’s of Bangladesh”(Jute Shippers)Who was very much fond of reading this legendary Journal and he was a lifetime subscriber of this esteemed Journal “Reader’s Digest”,till his death and also it would not be out place to mention about my beloved and revered late, Mother Mrs.Khaleda Rahman Ratna Chowdhury, (daughter of Dr.Sirajul Haque Chowdhury, and grand daughter of Peer Shahib Hazrat Khandker Motiur Rahman Chisthy), who was a great philanthropist, Poet and also an educationist and also fond of reading,”Readers Digest” as the saying goes “Give Me A Good Mother I Will Give You A Good Nation”,(Napoleon).I would also like to mention here with a heavy heart that I have also lost two of my most beloved and also very much affectionate Sisters ,who also loved me very much from the core of their heart,Miss, Nargis Rahman and Miss,Nasreen Rahman, both of them were also fond of reading “Reader’s Digest”,unfortunately both their(my sisters)death was very ,very premature and unexpected by all,so to say in a nutshell that I have lost my nearest and dearest one of our family,to me it is somewhat like that of the episode of “Greek Tragedy”as the mythology goes that a” Kings Palace within a few seconds was turned into a static lifeless stone’s Palace”, by the curse of the Saints at that time at Athens, Greece,to me I think that I am somewhat like “Oedipus”the unfortunate hero of the episode of “Greek Tragedy”. By virtue of my guardians and our family ambiance I was very much known with ‘Reader’s Digest” since my childhood and still I am a proud subscriber of”Reader’s Digest”,and it would be in persistence till my lifetime. .At the conclusion of my nostalgic comments I would like to mention here that it’s a proud privilege on my part to recall my guardians and sisters with utmost gratitude and reverence ,as another saying goes “That Every Past Prevails Upon The Present”, Once again I would like to mention that I was very, very fortunate to get an enlightened, updated, modern, highly qualified, cultured guardians like them, and they are always on the core of my heart and I greatly owe to them ………..
