REAL TALK – HERE GOES: In early summer of 2013 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. At first, the tumor was thought to be benign. I found out a while later that it wasn’t. Without going into gory details and making this longer than it needs to be, I’ve been going through chemo therapy and radiation for treatment. I have what is known as a malignant germ cell tumor – the “young woman’s cancer.” With this kind of tumor only 2% are malignant which I believe is why it may have been originally diagnosed as benign. I haven’t told a whole lot of people because well, to be honest, I didn’t want a lot of people to know. I didn’t and don’t want pity or special treatment or to make those closest to me worry. Keeping this a secret has caused problems in my personal life and I want to get this off my chest once and for all. I want to give a sincere thank you to the small amount of people that do know and that have been supportive. Sometimes a simple text from a friend way out in Cali is enough to make getting an infusion a lot less crappy. Joking with another friend about all the cool things I can tattoo on my skull if I lose all my hair makes me actually want to cut to the chase and just shave it off! Point is….thank you, again, to those that knew and know me well enough to be there for me. This has been a hard secret to keep and I owe many of you apologies. I’ve been a flake a lot when we’ve had plans. I haven’t been my usual self to a lot of you. I’ve been emotional and depressed. The list goes on. I’m really sorry. I mean that. THE REAL POINT OF BEING VERY PUBLIC ABOUT THIS: next week is my birthday. None of us ever know what tomorrow will bring so I’ve decided every birthday I have I will donate to a charity involving saving lives (whether directly or indirectly). I want to invite you guys to join me for your own birthdays. No pressure or anything but if you have a spare bit of change – any amount helps – I have chosen 3 charities that are VERY near and dear to my heart and would like to share them with you. A donation would make for a swell birthday gift and the warm fuzzies you get will really be awesome. I promise. I love you friends with all of my stone-cold black heart! And yes, I’m putting this on FaceSpace. Roll your eyes if you want. This is the easiest way to only have to say things once to a lot of people. Piss up a rope if you have a problem with it and delete yourself. \m/ childrenscolorado.org/donate-volunteer/donate *I love children and their spirits. I’ve never had a better job than working in the Cranio-Facial Reconstruction and Plastic Surgery Unit in Texas. This is to the Children’s Hospital in Aurora. They do wonderful things for these little guys and could use the financial help. theunexpectedpitbull/ *Everyone knows how much I love Pibbles. They always need help and this is a good organization. Even a few bucks could help buy some dog food or a vaccination. gofundme/nebraskarobertd *This is for my friend Nebraska White Trash in Vegas. He’s had 3 brain surgeries in a VERY short time and could obviously use a little help with finances. He’s probably one of the nicest guys on this planet and would give you this shirt off his back. He’s a budding tattoo artist and has a bright future ahead.
