REALITY BITES: The greatest injustice America has ever seen is racism. The biggest grievance today continues to be ignorance. These tensions (symptoms) we keep seeing & hearing about in the news media are proof that this cancer still needs to be eradicated. It has hidden itself within the fabrics of American society, including churches (If a church doesnt reflect the folks in its community then it has a systematic problem. If it is comfortable writing off those outside of its community, the problems worse. Its true). By the way (reality check), America is not black & white. It is first Native then Latino, Asian, African, Brazilian, Indian, Persian, European, Canadian, Middle Eastern and you name it. Its time to upgrade our thinking collectively. If we continue to disregard racism/ignorance, it will remain a silent killer. If we dont care then who will? Just like any other deadly disease, if we want this mess to go away then we have to be willing to personally do something about it. If we keep pretending its not there itll lay to rest any potential to move beyond the surface into deeper, more meaningful relationships with mutual friends, acquaintances, and neighbors. But that means having very REAL conversations that are sometimes uncomfortable (just like in any other REAL relationship). Im tired of so many of us choosing to live boxed-in lives. We werent born to be boxed in. We need to knock down these racial barriers & build bridges so that we can enter into REAL relationships. If yours is a voice that is always being heard, perhaps its time to listen. If yours is a voice that is constantly silent or silenced, Id imagine its time for you to speak up. God gave you your voice & it is imperative that you be heard. Your turn...
