REBEL UPDATE: (Now Tara) Hi Guys just a quick update on Tara (prev Rebel). At guessing she was then between 2-3 yrs of age. We took her on last June after Rachael saved her from a dreadful situation in Sydney and took her on whilst German Shepherd Dogs in Need found her a forever home. Rachael had changed her name from Tara to Rebel in the very short time Rachael cared for her but we decided to take her back to her original name. Tara was extremely thin when we took her on (her ribs showing) and her coat was wiry and there were plenty of bare patched thru previous flea issues. It was also found that she was extremely tender when touched anywhere around her abdomen. Subsequent visit to the vets found she had a massive absyss in her abdomen basically from her chest thru to her hindquarters. This involved a major operation to open her up and remove this absyss. The vet claimed it was one of the worst he had ever came across. His only explanation was that Tara had suffered extreme blows to her abdomen over a fairly lengthy period. Well after getting her back home and her hair regrowth she has come back to a beautiful healthy shepherd. She has gained 10 kilos and her coat is glossy and soft. She has also gained trust again and will allow us to handle her without squealing and hiding. She also luvs her step brother Ernie 3 yrs of age who is also a rescue dog (Failed Guide Dog) They play for hours and are never far from one another.
