RECHARGE THE EARTH CHALLENGE Scouting Ireland has teamed up once again with the European Recycling Platform (ERP), Ireland’s only pan-European compliance scheme for electrical and electronic waste and battery recycling, to kick off its Recharge the Earth Challenge. Now in its second year, this initiative is designed to promote battery recycling and awareness among Scouting Ireland Youth Members. ERP wants your Scout Group to collect as many batteries as possible for recycling in order to earn tree coupons. Once a group has collected four full boxes (or 100kg) of batteries, ERP will reward it with a coupon which can be exchanged for a tree. Scouting Ireland and ERP are committed to the environment and diverting batteries from landfill so let’s Recharge the Earth together and collect as many batteries as possible! Would the scouts, cubs , beavers, Venturers etc be interested in taking the Challenge .... ??? It may sound like a big challenger but really it is only 1kg of batteries per scout in the group .... Batteries can be collected from friends, families, school, work etc ... sounds like it may even turn into a environmental special interest badge for cubs or beavers .... there are flyers etc that we can have printed to help in the collections and awareness process Let me know here is scouts from all sections are interested Just like this post and if we get enough will look at registering.
