RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH 5 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING, FOR ALL OF SISKIYOU AND MODOC COUNTIES IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH 11 PM WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOR ALL OF KLAMATH AND LAKE COUNTIES IN SOUTHERN OREGON. Thunderstorms are expected to develop that will begin as dry storms over Northern California. Expect lightning along with gusty winds and very little rainfall with the initial storms that form. Winds from the storms could gust to 40 miles an hour. This will create rapid growth of fires that are started. As we move through the evening, storms will become progressively wetter, but lightning activity will increase. Expect frequent lightning with many cloud to ground strikes. This will especially be true in Southern Oregon in the warning area. While the storms will be wetter, lightning strikes outside the rain cores are expected to start new fires. Gusty winds will be present to aid rapid growth of fires.
