Based on the shellfish samples of the red tide monitoring of BFAR, the three coastal waters are now confirmed positive of the red tide toxin. The waters at Bani town which was earlier declared afflicted red tide is still positive of the toxin. Towards this end, the public is advised to refrain from eating, gathering or harvesting, transporting and marketing shellfish from the affected areas until the toxin level goes down below the regulatory limit. The public is also informed that fish harvested from the red tide affected areas are safe for human consumption provided that they are washed thoroughly and their gills and intestines are removed before cooking. The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist encourages all LGUs to take precautionary measures by requiring the market inspectors, quarantine officers and market administrators to demand for Auxiliary Invoice or clearance for Domestic Fish Movement from transporters and dealers of fish and seashells coming from other places to ensure everyone’s safety. /ADV
