REDCOP conducts blood-letting in celebration of Civil Service anniversary BANGUED, Abra, Sept. 12(PIA) -- The Renal Disease Control Program (REDCOP) started the “REDCOP at your Service” program last September 6 at the Provincial Capitol Atrium in celebration of the 113th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary. This year’s “REDCOP at your Service”, a regular program of the Provincial Health Office, is conducted in partnership with the Personnel Service Development (PSD) office of the provincial government of Abra and the Philippine Red Cross – Abra Chapter. Lilibeth B. Martin, the REDCOP provincial program coordinator said the “REDCOP at your Service” program will culminate on September 27. The activity is centered on four salient features namely bloodletting, kutiskilatis, urine screening and analysis, and blood pressure (BP) check- up. A total of 35 blood donors from the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Army and the Abra Valley Colleges were extracted with blood on September 6. “We highlight this year’s theme, ‘Isapuso at Isadugo ang Tatak Lingkod Bayani Ngayon at Magpakailanman’ that is why we consider all our volunteers especially those from the PNP, Philippine Army, and the youth sector who donate blood occasionally as servant heroes for saving lives of other people,” Martin emphasized. “Our call is to help other people in any way that we can. Aside from the fact that it (blood letting) rejuvenates our blood, iba pa rin ang feeling kapag alam mong may natutulungan ka (you feel happy to be able help),” said blood donor Corporal Joseph Aduka of the 41st Infantry Battalion.
