REDS HALL OF FAME 10th ANNIVERSARY ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK : The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum announces Hall of Fame Days, a six-day celebration the 10th anniversary of the Museum’s opening on September 25, 2004. This event features 2 for $10 admission to the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum from September 23 - September 28, along with autograph signings by Reds Hall of Famers and Reds alumni, merchandise specials, free batting cage sessions (with museum admission)and other exciting events. September 23 Free 10-swing session in the Reds Hall of Fame Batting Cages Presented by Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (1:30pm - eighth inning of game; free with membership) Meet Reds Hall of Famer Jake Beckley (5:30pm; Reds Hall of Fame Theater) Join Reds Historian Greg Rhodes and Jake Beckley (as portrayed by Cincinnati Enquirer columnist John Erardi) for a trip back in time to revisit Jake’s life and times. A member of the Reds Hall of Fame’s 2014 Induction Class and one of the most colorful players in Reds history, “Eagle Eye” Beckley starred at first base for the Reds from 1897 - 1903. His .325 in a Reds uniform is the third-highest career mark in franchise history. Beckley’s seven seasons in Cincinnati were part of a stellar 20-year career that earned him induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971. September 27 Free 10-swing session in the Reds Hall of Fame Batting Cages Presented by Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (1:30pm - eighth inning of game; free with membership) Eddie Milner & Gary Redus Autograph Signing (11:30am - 1:00pm; Great Teams Gallery in the Reds Hall of Fame) Former Reds outfielders Eddie Milner and Gary Redus will sign autographs at the Reds Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 27, from 11:30am - 1:00pm in the Hall of Fame’s Great Teams Gallery. One of the game’s top defensive outfielders, Eddie Milner was the Reds Opening Day centerfielder in 1983 and 1984 and appeared in 703 games for the club from 1980 - 1986 including 23 games when he returned to the Reds in 1988 after spending the 1987 season with the Giants. Over the course of his Reds career, Milner stole 135 bases, leading the team in steals with 18 in 1982 and 41 in 1983. He finished in the top ten in the National League in steals twice during his Reds career. A Red from 1982 - 1985, Gary Redus was also known for his base stealing abilities, leading the Reds thefts in 1984 and 1985 when he stole 48 in each season. He ranked in the top ten in steals in the National League each season from 1983 - 1985. Overall, he stole 146 bases during his Reds career and 322 in his 13-year Major League career that included stops with the Phillies, White Sox, Pirates and Rangers. September 28 Free 10-swing session in the Reds Hall of Fame Batting Cages Presented by Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (1:30pm - eighth inning of game; free with membership) Hitting Instruction with Eddie Milner (11:30am - 1:00pm; Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Reds Hall of Fame Batting Cages) Receive hitting tips from former Reds outfielder Eddie Milner in the Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Reds Hall of Fame Batting Cages from 11:30am - 1:00pm. Hitting instruction and ten-swing batting cage sessions are free with museum admission. Ron Oester Autograph Signing (11:30am - 1:00pm; Great Teams Room in the Reds Hall of Fame) Reds Hall of Famer Ron Oester will sign autographs from 11:30am - 1:00pm on Sunday, September 28, in the Hall of Fames Great Teams Room.
