REDUCE YOUR INTAKE OF SALT We need salt to add flavour to food and to provide the body with sodium and chlorides for its proper functioning. However a high intake of salt has negative effects on the body. A spoonful of salt a day is too much. Too much salts increase your blood pressure. HOW? When there are low levels of salts in the body, your kidneys hold on to water and prevent excessive realease of water (water retention). On the other hand, when there are increased levels of salts, the kidneys work to flush out the excess out through urine and sweat. So your urine and sweat become saltier. Read on. However when salts become too much in the body, the kidneys are not able to flush them out and they accumulate in the body. Water follows sodium. Hence the accumulated sodium attracts lots of water from the cells into the blood plasma. This then puts pressure on the blood vessels. Over time this extra work causes the blood vessels to stiffen and weaken. The end result is HYPERTENSION. Share this to boost this post and save lives.
