REFUSE TO ENVY A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.....Pro.14:30 Which implies that envy prevents soundness of heart …it is the gateway of death to the flesh. Some other versions says……envy rots away life or eats you up alive….. rottenness in the bones and body sickness starts from envy in the heart……whoa…!! Beloved, refuse to permit envy of any kind in your heart, that is the finger of destruction and of the evil one. The bible says ...envy slays the silly ones( Job 5:2). The very first indication of divine promotion in our life is the blessed heart that genuinely rejoices with others without pretense. Playing down others achievement or success is out of character for us who are children of the Almighty. It is comes natural to envy others at the other end of the spectrum, that is a symptom of Adamic nature ( James 4:5)......but that is foreign to the new nature in you in Christ Jesus. A sound heart and mind is your heritage and a gift in Christ (2Tim.1:7); stay strong and refuse any form of attack of envy on your new heart. Successes of others may remind us of our personal failures and lack and sometimes that may be too difficult to face or handle. Hence many of us will just not show up for the celebrations or simply turn a deaf ear to the testimonies of others especially of those who are supposed to be our brothers, sisters and family or of those we think we dislike or offended at. Many of us seem to have excuses for our reactions…..no, I was not invited…not told…I don’t care about such things…we are not friends….etc; friend , be sure that envy is not eating you up. Some other times envy is an indication of bondage of self consumption. Many of us have refused to look beyond our carnal self and all we see is not pleasant and we have grown to dislike what and who we have become; while to some of us, what we have is just never good enough, the grass always seem greener at the other end. But, beloved, there is a better you in Christ Jesus; it is your new you in Christ Jesus, you have been restored to the image and likeness of God through Jesus Christ. Always keep your focus on your inner man from where you will always overcome the carnal nature so you can be who or what God has made you and have all He has given us in Christ Jesus. Whenever God is promoting and lifting his people, He takes them over the barrier of envy. Beloved, learn to rejoice at all times and with all those who are rejoicing. May your heart and mind remain unshakeably sound, calm and strong and may you never lose your lifting and promotions in life to envy in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
