REGARD FOR REPROOF “Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: - TopicsExpress

REGARD FOR REPROOF “Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. A fool despiseth his father’s instruction.” (Proverbs 12:1; 15: 5) Youth who have regard for reproof are the leaders of tomorrow. Some youths often feel unhappy when they are reproved by parents or teachers. They react negatively to corrections. However, blessings await those who obey instructions and accept reproofs. You must understand that such chastisement is informed by love. “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth” (Hebrews 12: 6). You may not understand fully what your parents are doing now. But they are more experienced and knowledgeable than you. Wise children value the instructions and reproofs of their parents. God’s Word says, “My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord.” (Hebrews 12: 5, 7). You must be grateful then when you are chastised by your parents. God uses them to guide you on the right way. You will reap the rewards of parental reproofs when you accept them. Your teachers will be willing to help you more when you are receptive to their instructions, thereby becoming empowered for leadership roles. Challenge: Be grateful for chastisements. Prayer: Help me dear Lord, to accept reproofs. Further Reading: Hebrews 12:6-11
