REGARDING THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT.... The new act was designed to HELP more Americans gain access to affordable healthcare.. that is the intent and it is a law. It is complex and has many areas that will, most likely be in need of revision. These areas will reveal themselves as the act is implemented. Any new system that affects so many people will have glitches. It is not perfect nor could it be from the start. But if you can loosen your grip on your perceptions that it is designed to hurt you...then perhaps you might be able to be objective and scrutinize it with a cautious but hopeful eye. Many, like myself, who have supported the idea of sweeping healthcare reform (many of us who do, have worked with those in our society who fall through the proverbial cracks) understand the need for reform. Thus, being cautiously hopeful...not naive nor myopic...will watch and stay alert to the effects in order to recommend change when it is obvious that change may be required. If you are starting from a point of view that torpedoes it before it is even totally in place, you may not be aware of any benefits. I remember when the polio vaccine was introduced and required to the American population... The moans and groans and naysayers abounded. But polio has nearly been eradicated to the benefit of our nation. Did some children have negative reactions...most likely...but the overwhelming benefit far outweighed the downside...and the glitches were revealed after implementation and were resolved. Same with the other preventative vaccines that are now required for most children before they can enter public school. I recognize that the concerns are similar to the concerns that I mentioned regarding the vaccines. If we all step back, take a breath and adjust our bias, perhaps we might find that the act will, after adjustments, be a great benefit to our nation.
