REGENERATION – THE TRUTH EXPOSED Thank you Cllr Thompson for giving us the facts and explaining how DCC work their Regeneration figures out. To say the ordinary person would think the formula ridiculous is probably a serious understatement! The points raised to your post earlier this week by Jacklyn McCourt, Paul Foxton, Joanne Fell, Peter Carr and Lorraine Lax are well made and very valid and show how passionate they, and the silent majority, are about Spennymoor. As we understand it The £11 million for the Whitworth Park School came from central government not DCC The £1 million for the Health Centre as stated by Paul Foxton surely must have been paid by an Insurance Company. In the £22 million on Durham Gate - ‘Living’ cost £14 million with the Roads and Roundabout £8 million of which only £2.5 million came from DCC (This £8 million doesn’t include the over spend which we believe is between £5 & £6 million on the Thinford Roundabout)! The £3.7 million on the Green Lane Council Offices from DCC. Is there any expenditure that DCC won’t claim as Regeneration Money? Cllr Thompson we imagine as an Independent County Councillor you must struggle to accept what going on in Spennymoor and not be in a position to get real change for us, as only the Labour Party which is the controlling party of Durham County Council have the power to make change happen.
