RELATIVE TODAY - part 4 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. - Romans 1:28-32 NIV Because they decided they knew God, but He was not worthy of their admiration, God removed their discernment, they would now believing anything. The light of nature and the sense God gives everyone had revealed to them that God was real, but they sought to remove every idea or thought of Him from their mind and surroundings. So God gave them over to their own thoughts, to live a vain and empty life in defiance of God and His understanding. They will become filled with every kind of unrighteousness known to the Gentiles. Intolerant and unmerciful toward others, seeking only to fulfill their own selfish desires. Despising God and those who represent Him. Obligation and commitment mean nothing to them, they are liars and deceitful in all they do. The moral compass that God placed within each person is ignored, their actions are deplorable, yet they revel in them. Despite of all the actions of evil there remains enough of conscience, although stifles, to know such things have consequences. How wicked are the people that delight in their own sins, and love to see others follow in as well? This is the seal of destruction, their own conscience testifying against them. They are proud of their sin, when it should bring them shame. It all begins with a failure to acknowledge God. ________________________________________
