RELIEF WORK CONTINUES INSPITE OF RAIN AND INCLEMENT WEATHER Rescue and Relief Operations continue from Jammu Air Force Base for the 10th day starting from 05 Sep 14, under the leadership of Air Commodore PE Patange YSM, VM. Air Force Station, Jammu geared up for the consistent and relentless operations of rescue and relief. The Air Force administration is deeply involved in providing food, clothing and facility of comfort to the rescued people. Also, the transport facility to relief camps and other desired places within Jammu is arranged by IAF. A large number of aircrafts including the fixed wind and rotary wing are operating from Air Force Station Jammu in rescue and relief Operations, PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said. The Jammu Air Force station has been carrying out round the clock operations, making relentless efforts to supply relief materials since 05 Sep 2014. On the 09th day, 13 Sep 14, A total of 38 sorties of fixed & rotary wing have been undertaken to supply 99.193 tons of relief material and 2114 people have been rescued. On 14 Sep 14, till 1700 hrs, a total of 07 sorties are undertaken to supply 43.14 tons of load and 398 people have been rescued. Braving against the prevailing adverse weather conditions, in addition to Mi-17, Chetak and medium lift transport aircraft like AN-32, the technical airport at Jammu has started operating heavy lift aircraft like C-130, both during day and night. The unpardoning weather and relentless Operations did not deter the spirit of Air Force team Jammu. The team of Air Force Station Jammu is well motivated and ready to face the challenges as ever.
