RELIGION Religion is the structured collection of beliefs & cultural systems. Religious behavior is thought to have emerged in the Neo-Paleolithic era about 50,000 years ago, with the cognitive revolution. Behavioral patterns such as burial rites, which may be characterized as religious practice, reach back to the Neanderthal practice about 300,000 years ago, in the Middle-Paleolithic age. But there is controversy regarding this. The specialty of Sapiens’ language is to transmit information about things that do not exist, like myths, legends, Gods, religion, etc. The human language is known as fictive language because of its ability to produce fiction. The fictive language created unprecedented ability among humans to cooperate flexibly in large numbers making us masters of the world. The flexibility is due to adaptability of humans. Fictive language enabled Sapiens to cooperate in large numbers and establish towns, cities, kingdoms, empires. Primitive tribes cemented ties with beliefs in God, ghosts & spirits, etc. Modern world today is founded on common beliefs, stories like the epics, etc.
