RELIGION VS REBELLION – REGRESSIVE THEOLOGY: One of the things we have to understand very clearly is to distinguish religion as a concept and a practice and the use of religion. Many times we forget that our ancestors didnt come over on the ships as Christians. You have to meditate on that…the African continent wasnt practicing Christianity in any degree prior to enslavement. I know that hurts some of you feelings, but you gotta deal with it. Once you recognize that, you gotta ask who taught it to you and for what reason? Because the Arabs and Europeans learned something very crucial: GIVE THEM YOUR RELIGION, GIVE THEM YOUR CULTURE AND THEY’LL HANG IN THERE VOLUNTARILY—NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO! While the practicing of Christianity (or whatever religion) is one thing, its use is another. You have to examine your religious practice to see if you’re not practicing it in a way that it permits the use of you and your continued enslavement as a people. I’ll argue, to a good extent, as it is projected and interpreted by whites, it is projected and interpreted in ways to maintain WHITE POWER! You got a people who stole everything from you and then turn around and taught you what? “THOU SHALT NOT STEAL!” They sat right there in Bensonhurst (Brooklyn, NY), killed black people (16-year-old Yusuf Hawkins, August 23, 1989) and then walk right into the black church and have black preachers say, “BE ANGERED, BUT SIN NOT!” What a joke that must have been for Ed Koch (former New York City Mayor) and the rest of whites sitting in that church saying, “Look, isnt this religion working: you kill them and they use it to maintain themselves in position.” – Dr Amos Wilson (1990
