REMAIN IN CHRIST TO PERFECT SALVATION Some believers in Christian fold say that once a man becomes born again, he already has eternal life and therefore, cannot be destroyed again even if he sins unto death. Not as if they encourage believers to sin, but that they actually believe they are already walking in eternal life and grace or mercy of God and they are indestructible or that hell is never for them again. Such are those who teach people that, ‘once saved is forever saved’; and they don’t believe in backslidden Christians will end up in hell fire. These teachings are lies, and do not be deceived, God is not mocked: whatsoever you sow, that you must reap. If you sow to your flesh, you shall reap corruption; and if you sow to the Spirit, you shall reap eternal life (Galatians 6:7-8). Eternal life comes through faith in Christ Jesus, but you have to sow to the Spirit in order to reap the eternal life. To sow to the Spirit is to remain in the Spirit and to walk in the Spirit: That is what yields eternal life. Any believer who believes in the Son of God, believes in his death and resurrection, but he minds the things of the flesh is sowing death to himself: As it is written, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6) Eternal life is a free gift for those in Christ Jesus, but that gift is still in him and not outside of him. One must remain in Christ to access and live that eternal life: We must abide in him in order to live. As it is written, “This is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12) So eternal life is in the Son, and wherever the Son is, there is the eternal life found. Therefore, if a man who is once a believer in Christ, but later decides to walk out of Christ, he has just gone out of eternal life and he walks in death. Eternal life is a person, and when you leave that person, you walk in death. Therefore the gifts of eternal life is in the Son, so that all may abide in him or remain in him. A man walks out of Christ, when he sets his mind on earthly things or when he becomes carnally minded: It is just as the mind travels far and fast, so does the man goes with it in or out of Christ. That you have eternal life now, does not mean you have immortality already. So the eternal life is not yet in your body. Every mortal or flesh is still subject to death, even if he lives eternal life – 1. Eternal life is the Life of God or the Spirit of God in a man; but, 2. Immortality is to have a body above all forms of death, and a body that can wield eternal life in it. So whatever you have received in Christ now in this tabernacle, always remember we still have these treasures in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of ourselves (2 Corinthians 4:7). Therefore, remain humble and faithful in Christ, or else you too shall be cut off from the olive tree. As it is written, “And if some of the branches be broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were graffed in among them, and with them partake of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, you do not bear the root, but the root bears you. You will say then, “The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.” Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be highminded, but fear: For if God did not spare the natural branches, take heed lest he will not also spare you. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you also shall be cut off.” (Romans 11:17-22) The wages of sin is still death even in Christ: Whether you are in Christ or outside Christ, the wages of sin is still death and the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23). There is no death found in Christ because he is life, but there is wages for all things in Christ and reward for every works: Death is not in him, but the wages of sin is with him. For his reward is with him, to give to everyman according as his work shall be.
