REMEMBER RACHEL CORRIE (1979-2003). Eleven years ago today, March 16th, Rachel Corrie, a nonviolent activist with the International Solidarity Movement, was crushed to death by a US supplied D9 bulldozer driven by an Israeli soldier while she tried to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home near Rafah, Gaza. It was no accident and is but one of a litany of deaths and human rights abuses committed by the Israeli military with impunity. Congress, so beholden to the Israel lobby, couldnt even muster enough votes to call for an independent investigation into Rachels death at the hands of the top recipient of US military aid. The US continues to supply Israeli with $3.1 billion in arms per year regardless of its human rights record. Until we Americans take our government back, the human rights abuses and death will continue. Coming here is one of the better things Ive ever done. So when I sound crazy, or if the Israeli military should break with their racist tendency not to injure white people, please pin the reason squarely on the fact that I am in the midst of a genocide which I am also indirectly support [involuntarily-Ed.] and for which my government is largely responsible.
