REMEMBERING By Diana Ballinger As darkness falls, we gather; ... Then a light begins to flicker on the screen Silent tears fall as faces begin to appear Holding hands, on each other we lean So many different faces, Young, old, black and white So many empty spaces Left by those we are honoring tonight And soon in total silence We will walk around the track Lighted by luminaries for our loved ones That we would give anything to have back And if you really listen You’ll hear the cries of a hundred hearts; As we silently remember How our Relay got its start We walk, we give, we fundraise; And continue fighting to endure For today we walk the Relay So tomorrow we find the CURE!
