REMEMBERING ONE OF OUR FELLOW SIGNALMAN AND SHIPMATE! SIGNALMAN SECOND CLASS JOHN EASTON ARLEDGE! SM2 Arledge was born in Nibletts Bluff, Calcasieu Parish, LA on 11 November 1917. He grew up on the family farm. John served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the Navy. After joining the Navy he rose through the ranks to Signalman Second Class. He was station on board the USS Arizona BB-39 on 7 December 1941 when the Naval and Air Forces of the Empire of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. He was killed as he was running to get to his battle stations. He is still entombed on board the USS Arizona.
