REMEMBERING THE POOR AMONGST US Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard (Pro 21:13) As the end is approaching, many will lose everything! This will not only be the reality of those who are without Christ, but many who proclaim Christ will also lose their things. Because of this truth it is important that we as the body of Christ allow the Lord to recondition/renew our mentality. In this day, believers are truly going to need one another. Those who feel safe because of the fence of security they have built for themselves, will see many of the things theyve trusted in disappear or be out right taken. The reason why many will lose their things in this hour is because they have never experienced God without them. While it is good to thank God for the good comforts He affords us, we must come to the place where we can love and appreciate Him regardless of our things. The church (especially here in America) needs to be stripped! Weve become complacent, selfish and indifferent to human need and suffering. There are countless multitudes around us who the Lord shows us is suffering, and at times, He may even place these people on our hearts to bless, but because we are so enraptured in our comfort zones, we quickly disregard what the Lord is asking us to do and act like we never heard Him. This is why its necessary for us to go through. Going through teaches us genuine compassion, not just the theological definition of it. Our suffering helps us to identify with those around us who are suffering. Not just seek to pray for them, but to also minister to them the things they may need. Well be surprised the people around us who are suffering. But because we are so caught up in our world, its impossible for the Lord to get through to us about someone else. The famine thats coming will teach us how to genuinely love one another. We are going to have to open our homes, our cabinets and our wallets to help one another out as the end approaches. In some cases, people are going to have to do these things for us also. Just because we have today, doesnt mean we will have tomorrow. Although times will become difficult, it will be the difficult times which are coming that will create the genuine unity the Lord desires for His church (Eph 4:13). Not a superficial unity based on personality, but authentic unity based on our truth, love and faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ. Seeing we will lose much of our things, let us open our hearts to human need around us. Let us not close our ears and eyes to what the Lord shows us about the poor, lest when its our time to be in need others close their ears to us. May the Lord give us ears to hear this.
