Since the terror attacks on 9/11 and 7/7, Muslims in Britain have sought to understand what it means to be British and Muslim We aim to provide an intellectual space showcasing new thinking on Islam and what this means. This will be an inclusive space to critically discuss and debate issues that affect and concern us in Bristol. Come and explore ideas and ask questions. The City Circle offers no doctrinal solutions but instead a space to explore new ideas and a place to ask questions: to challenge and be challenged. Starting his career as a civil engineer Dawud moved on to teaching mathematics and sciences in secondary schools. He completed a doctorate in Islamic studies at Warwick university and was the first Muslim chaplain here. Dawud Worked for the Woolf Institute of Abrahamic Faiths as the Stone Ashdown Director for the Centre for the Study of Muslim-Jewish Relations in Cambridge and also worked as a Course Convenor for the Cambridge Muslim College in its inaugural year. Dawud worked as the Head teacher of Mazahirul Uloom London, a Muslim Boys secondary School in Tower Hamlets. Raised the GCSE pass rate for 31% to 73% (5 GCSEs with Maths and English) in one year and was honoured by the Association of Muslim Schools with a Special Commendation Award.
